Lenovo

A Chinese manufacturer of a variety of off-the-shelf computer systems — desktops, laptops, netbooks, nettops, tablet computers, smartphones, and PDAs. Included in the top five leading computer manufacturers.

Lenovo was founded by a certain Liu Chuanzhi. In 1984, he and his associates founded a company with the rather commonplace name New Technology Developer Inc. Funding was provided by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Initially, the new company was mainly engaged in the supply of computers to China, as well as their adaptation to Chinese characters.
