Joel Thomas Zimmerman, better known by his pseudonym Dead Mouse (deadmau5), is a Canadian DJ and music producer. In 2018 he was ranked 59th in the list of the best DJs in the world according to DJ Magazine. Zimmerman's alias was coined when he, replacing the video card, found a dead mouse in his computer. He reported this to people in the chat room and became known there as "that guy with the dead mouse." After that, he shortened the alias first to dead Mouse, and then to deadmau5.
