The Joker is Batman's main and sworn enemy. The Joker wears a purple suit and fights with items that are stylized as clown and illusionist props. The Joker's past remains shrouded in mystery to this day, despite the character's eighty-year history. DC continues to adhere to Alan Moore's theory of the sinister clown's multivariate past. Perhaps even the Joker himself no longer remembers who he was until the night he put on the Red Hood. According to the recognized canonical version, the man who became the Joker (perhaps he was an unlucky comedian, and possibly a gangster) fell into acid, frightened by Batman, when he took part in a robbery of a card factory wearing a Red Hood costume. As a result, he lost his mind, gained white skin, black circles around his eyes and green hair, and a smile on his face forever.
