Rey is a Force-sensitive human woman who became a Jedi during the conflict between the First Order and the Resistance. She was born in 15 ABY, fifteen years after the Battle of Yavin, on the desert planet Jakku, to a family of hoarders who sold her to Unkar Platt when Rey was still a child. For many years, to survive, she had to collect trash among the debris left after the Battle of Jakku. Rei learned to survive on her own, becoming a talented mechanic, pilot and fighter, while not losing faith that her family would someday return for her.
