Thanos, also known as the Mad Titan, is a powerful space warlord who rules over a remote region of space and also commands a massive army known as the Chitauri. Thanos is a member of the race that inhabited Titan. His father was A'Lars. Their planet once flourished, but resources became scarce, and overpopulation threatened the well-being of its inhabitants. Thanos proposed destroying half of the population, randomly, regardless of status and wealth, in order to balance life on the planet. It was a fair decision, but Thanos was considered insane.
